Thank you so much for checking out my blog. My name is Stephanie, and I’m a registered social worker and trauma therapist with nearly 15 years of experience in the mental health field.
About Me!

I started my private practice part-time about four years ago. For the past year, I’ve been working full-time, focusing mainly on trauma therapy. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families, and youth, and I have had the privilege of supporting diverse communities, including faith communities, LGBTQ2+ folks and Indigenous peoples.
Before moving into private practice, I gained experience in a variety of areas, including:
Health care
Indigenous-specific services
Federal corrections (CSC)
Mental health
Psychiatric care
Trauma treatment
Substance use
Harm reduction
Street outreach
My passion lies in helping clients process and heal trauma in a safe and supportive environment. I believe our brains and bodies are the key to healing—and that through evidence-based trauma approaches, people can reduce symptoms, reclaim resilience, and move toward wellness. Much of my work is using an attachment-focused, trauma-informed lens with clients who have experienced childhood trauma, medical trauma, or religious trauma.
Why a blog?
I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for quite a while. It might not be as trendy as TikTok or podcasting, but blogging feels like the right fit for me. I do my best with social media, but it often feels inadequate for the knowledge I’d like to share. Writing gives me space to slow down, reflect, and really dig into ideas.
And to be honest, I really miss university and academic engagement—I miss reading research, writing papers, learning new concepts and engaging with theory and evidence-based materials. There’s always a small part of me tempted to pursue a PhD, but for now, this blog feels like a meaningful outlet.
What’s next?

You might be wondering: Why is my blog called “You’re Not Your Dinosaur Brain”? Well, that is exactly what I’ll be diving into that in my next post! Make sure you don’t miss it!
In the meantime, I’d love your support as I launch this space. Please leave me comments and share my blog posts.
Thanks for being here—I’m excited to begin this journey with you.
